Te Puna Kelston Early Learning Centre
Te Puna Kelston is a warm, welcoming early learning centre where tamariki feel safe, valued, and confident to explore through meaningful play, strong relationships, and a deep sense of belonging.
Why Families Choose Te Puna
Tamariki are supported to learn through play, with rich experiences that encourage curiosity, independence, wellbeing, and joyful discovery.
Whanaungatanga sits at the heart of our practice, with kaiako working alongside tamariki and partnering closely with whānau.
Our daily rhythm includes morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea, alongside a safe environment that supports belonging from under 2s through to preschool.
Our Philosophy
At Te Puna Kelston, we create a warm and welcoming space where tamariki feel safe, valued, and confident to explore. We honour the identities, languages, and cultures of our tamariki and whānau, with a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the principles of partnership, protection, and participation.
We believe all tamariki learn best through play. Our kaiako provide rich, meaningful experiences that support curiosity, independence, and wellbeing while guiding, encouraging, and celebrating each child's growth.
Learning Spaces
Kākano, meaning seed, is our nurturing under-2 room where pēpi are supported through calm care, strong relationships, and the very first foundations of learning.
Mahuri, meaning young tree or sapling, is our toddler room where tamariki grow in independence through purposeful exploration, guided experiences, and confidence-building play.
Rākau, meaning tree, is our preschool room where tamariki deepen social, literacy, problem-solving, and self-help skills as they prepare for school and beyond.
Explore Our Rooms
Parents can explore each room to get a better feel for the environments, materials, and daily experiences available across Te Puna Kelston.
Under 2s
Kākano, meaning seed, reflects the beginning of each child’s learning journey. In our Kākano Room, we nurture this early stage of growth by providing a calm, responsive environment where pēpi feel safe, valued, and supported to thrive. Through strong relationships, gentle care, and meaningful play, we help each child grow in confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging, laying the foundations for lifelong learning.
